On the 17th September we had a day trip to one of our favourite mountains called Trevenque. Its a great peak that stand all on its own, is steep from all angles and has great views from the top. Along with 2 Spanish Highs clients, Khumbu and Bruno we headed off for a great 5 hour walk.
As were walking into the summit ridge the clouds began to build, the wind began to blow, the rain began to fall lightly and then the thunder arrived and the rain began to fall heavily!! (this was not forecast) Luckily we were near a cave that we could take shelter from the weather. We stayed there for 20 mins or so and then headed out on up the ridge to the summit. Unfortunately due to the weather the view was spoilt by cloud.
When we started to head down into the valley we were back in our t’shirts and were cooked the rest of the way back to the car. The dogs kept looking for the shade, there is no water in this area so we had to carry enough water for them and us. We had a great day and a reminder that even in summer the mountains will make their own weather up so always be prepared!!
