The annual week long crazy fiesta in Lanjaron has finally come to an end. The 2 best events are “La Publica” and the “Noche de Agua”. Lanjaron becomes a different place for a week, full of street stalls, bars, entertainment, even famous Spanish bands turn up here and dont start playing until 1am.
La Publica is where everyone dresses up, makes lots of noise, gets drunk, ive still not worked out what the themes are but everyone enjoys themselves. It takes 4 hours for the floats to get from one end of town to the other!!!!
Noche de Aguais the crazy night of the water run. You congregate at one end of town at midnight, the hooter blows, you make your way to the town square by entering the biggest water fight in the world! People from their balconies throw buckets of water, hose pipes are let loose, even the fire brigade are out to soak you. Of course you cant participate in this unless you have a bucket to throw water at people too! The streets are like rivers within minuets of this great night starting. At 1am the hooter is blown, the water fight is over, the bars open again (they lock their doors at midnight to stop them getting wet in the bars) and more drinking continues. I have no photos of this night for obvious reasons!
